Installer problems

Howdy folks...

Im having terrible trouble going about making an installer for my application. so far I have not had the need to write an installer as I have not written many major projects, or projects major enough to warrant creating an installer for them.

looking through the MSDN documentation it fully explains how to go about creating an installer from a template, though what it fails to mention is that the 'other drop-down node' is not there in the freakin' express version.

I searched the web briefly yesterday for information and help with this and found a little bit, but I am not really any further forward, also searching for stuff now, but any help or knowledge-able advice from anyone here would go a long way.

Thanks

You cant create MSI installer packages with the express version, its not included. You would have to go and buy the pro version to be able to do that.

That's if you really want to pay for software, even though you could get similar software for free I'm pretty sure Inno works with vb.net, so check it out here:

If you choose not to use it, and want to make your own installer, let me know and I'll send you a tidbit on resource files.

I'm quite a fan of the Nullsoft Scriptable Installation System.

Thanks Booooze, 'inno' < I have seen this mentioned while sifting through the msdn library.

Im going to check it out now, Also Ooble thanks for the link; Checking that now also.

Though another question would be, How would I go about writing my own?, Would this be to difficult?, Am I being silly and looking over the fact that that's why there are only a few good installers out there?
