Why would you want to do that? I hope your not writing anything that might harm other peoples computers.

It would be a real security problem if websites could download and run an exe on your computer. Just imagine how easy it would be to make a virus or take control of the computer its been downloaded to.

Yes, if the user clicks "open this file" instead of "save file" when downloading it.

By the way, what in the world does this have to do with C++? The answer would be the same no matter what language you use.

Thats not automatic! So clearly you are not helping the OP with his problem and are suggesting something that is different.

And who cares where he posted it. He could have posted it up his dogs ass for all i care.

Yes, that would be automatic, from the user's perspective. They wouldn't have to go navigate through the filesystem, find the program, and run it. He didn't ask, "can a C++ app automatically download when a webpage loads", he asked, "can a C++ app automatically open when downloaded?" I answered his question. To clarify: Yes, if the user wants it to, but the programmer can't make it happen.

I never commented on where he posted it. i commented that it has nothing to do with C++. The entire text of his post was: "Can a C++ app automaticly open when downloaded?"

By the way, aren't you the same one who just now got chided by DaWei for exactly what you're telling me not to do?

Hypocrisy?

Its not a virus. I am trying to make a program that will delete this file on a computer when a user logs on. I work for a school district that uses a relatively large network and I am trying to save time by doing this instead of having to go through and delete it manually.
