FreeBSD help
I recently installed FreeBSD on my home computer, but there seems to be a problem... When I login I stay in the command line, how do I get it to go to a graphical interface? If I didn't provide you with enough info then just ask the question you need to know. Help me please, as of right now I can't use my home computer...

That's all I needed to do? I'm not at my house right now so I can't try it, but I will the second I get there... Anything else if that doesn't work?

If typing 'gdm' or 'kdm' does not work, try typing 'startx'... one of those should do the trick.

None of these work... I have the book FreeBSD Unleashed and when I try them I get the following...
gdm: only root wants to run gdm. ^^ and when I run it as root it still doesn't work. kdm: not found startx: no screens found... Please help me. As of right now I can't use my home computer... |

That said, make sure you have Xorg installed (looks like you do). Then double check your configuration (looks like it isn't working). Start with that and we'll see where things are... |

What window manager are you using? And are you sure you have it installed properly?

Run "Xorg -configure" and let it configure a proper Xorg.conf file for you. After it does that, *then* try startx and see what happens. If it comes up with a really primitive window manager, that's probably "twm" and x is working so you can install other things like xfce or openbox over it
