Game Programming in 24 hours....
I read the SAMs publishing book that was titled "Game Programming in 24 hours". This book really pissed me off. The example code in the book didn't even work. I'm glad I didn't pay for this book. Does anyone know where I can get a really good (and free) tutorial, guide, or tips on game programming in C or C++ (prefeerably C; I don't care much for OOP...)

Search with http://books.google.com/, it finds books for you and you can even read big parts of it.

I am taking a Computer programming course at college right now and my profs say that there are no good game programming books out there right now because the technology changes rapidly. Basicly you need a to know C++, and then do some web surfing if you want to teach yourself, there will not be one book that will teach you.

It would probably be better to learn all the individual pieces....C(++), OpenGL+SDL/DirectX, networking, etc...then of course things needed for a game...AI, good game logic....etc.
